Mouse Trap by 3/4B

We have been playing the Mouse Trap game to learn more about simple machines. It was great to watch when all the machines worked together and the trap worked! Here are some photos of our game.

We played mouse trap it was a very old game. My group played it. We did not get to finish it but we were still happy. We had so much fun putting it together. Then Mrs H finished it off, then we tried and it worked. Then other groups did it. They finished the whole thing. Then we packed it up and sat on the floor. By Mia

In Mouse Trap we (my group) did not play the game but we did make the trap. We saw lots of simple machines. There was the lever, the see saw and lots more. It was surprising that it looked easy but it was so hard. Julia

Our class did Mouse Trap!!! We enjoyed it a lot because it was interesting and there were lot of interesting things like simple machines. The simple machines were a lever, gears, wheel and axle, inclined plane and pulley. The tricky thing was putting them together. We were in our class room when we played it. I learnt that it was fun and cool. It was surprising because it worked out and I had a lot of fun. Mrs Hamilton brought it in for us so we could play. Mrs Hamilton is a very nice teacher!!! By Jess

The Zebras literacy group did Mouse Trap on 17th of March 2011 it was really fun. We even saw some simple machines like inclined plane but that’s all I can remember. It was very tricky to work it because something missed or it fell. We learned that it needs team work to do something. Surprisingly I thought it was easy but instead it was hard. By James

On 17th March 2011 Zebras did Mouse Trap. We found loads of simple machines like: Levers, Inclined plane, springs and many more. The tricky part was when we had to put it together. We had no idea what we were doing. We learnt about how the simple machines work and that if things join together they can make an amazing masterpiece. The surprising thing was that it worked in the end! It was a lot of fun! By Georgia 3/4B

Today we did mouse trap. When we started we first thought it was hard then at the middle part it was getting easier. When we were finished we thought something was missing - it was the cage. We found an inclined plane, wheel and axle, lever, pulley, and gear. There were 5 simple machines. The tricky part was putting the two wheels and axles together but Maya was the only person who was able to connect it. We learnt that mouse trap was a connecting simple machine game. By David

Mouse Trap by Maya

Our class played Mouse trap! We certainly enjoyed it because it was surprising and you never knew what you were up to. It was a very old series of it and very breakable. I know that because my teacher said she had played it with her sister when she was very very young! We learned that in any tricky game we played we will still have to have teamwork. Do you know what will happen if we did not have teamwork we would not have completed the game or even started it! Here are all the simple machines that I found wheel and axle, pulley, inclined plane and last but not least a lever! It was so much FUN! By Maya

Mouse Trap by Cindy

This week 3/4B built a Mouse trap. The simple machines we found are gears, inclined planes, lever. We did it in the corridor. The tricky part was not to let the mouses get trapped. By Cindy

Mouse Trap by Chris

In literacy rotations we played Mrs Hamilton’s old mouse trap game. Each group played it in the corridor in front of our class. There were many simple machines in mouse trap, there were gears, inclined planes, wheels and axles, wedges, pulleys and fulcrums. It was very tricky and confusing but we eventually completed it. We learnt how simple machines work. Mouse trap is a really good example of how to use simple machines. Before we tried it everybody was excited. By Chris 17/3/11

Acronyms

This week we have discovered some acronyms. We have looked at the acronym Q.A.N.T.A.S. The challenge was set for students to find out what it stands for. Well done to Georgia for finding out that very night! With help from her mum and sister, Georgia found out that Q.A.N.T.A.S. stands for Queensland And Northern Territory Aerial Services. Wow!

Today our classroom speaker was fixed. Hooray! The challenge has been set to find out what P.A. system stands for. Do you know the answer?

Update 15/3/2011
Well done to James who discovered what P.A. stands for! James and his family found out that P.A. means Public Address. How interesting :)

Technic Lego

In Level 3 we have been making contraptions out of Technic Lego. We are working in groups of 4, and we are really enjoying our afternoons when we can spend time working on creating our machines. In our Lego contraptions we have found some simple machines - levers, wheels and axles, pulleys, gears and inclined planes. Can you find them?!
